School Closed March 16th through April 13th

COVID - 19

On March 12th, Gov. Whitmer announced that all K-12 school buildings are ordered to be closed from Monday, March 16 to Sunday, April 5, 2020, in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. Buildings can reopen on Monday, April 14th. "This is a necessary step to protect our kids, our families and our overall public health," said Gov. Whitmer.
At AuTrain-Onota Public School we will continue monitoring the situation regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID19). The US Center for Disease Control recommends the following precautionary measures to reduce risk:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. The practices identified above are taught as part of our health curriculum to help protect students from common illnesses such as a cold and influenza. We have reviewed these strategies at school, and we recommend parents/ guardians review these strategies at home.

We encourage parents/guardians to seek medical attention from a healthcare professional should your child
have a fever, cough and/or shortness of breath.

We will continue to watch the developments surrounding COVID-19 with the assistance of LMAS District Health Department and related agencies. If needed, we will communicate additional steps necessary to protect the health of all of our students, families and staff. For more information about COVID-19, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
